The cost of the test includes two siblings.
Additional siblings are each charged at the additional person rate.
Full-Sibling Study
This test is for Clients who want to determine if they have both parents in common (share the same mother and the same father).
Half-Sibling Study
This test is for Clients who want to determine if they have one parent in common. (Share the same mother or the same father.)
There is always the chance that the sibling test will yield an INCONCLUSIVE result. This occurs in approximately one in five cases.
Clients should be fully aware of the limitations of the test before proceeding.
Sibling DNA testing is less accurate than paternity or maternity testing. For this reason, it should be considered only if a paternity, maternity or Y chromosome test cannot be done.
The laboratory will analyse the samples to produce a ‘Probability of Relatedness’ expressed as a percentage. A result between 0% and 10% indicates that it is likely that a relationship does not exist. A result between 90% and 100% indicates that it is likely that a relationship does exist.
If the result is between 10% and 90% then there is not enough evidence either way, and the result is deemed inconclusive. This occurs in approximately one in five test cases. There are no refunds for inconclusive tests.
This type of test is used to determine whether two (or more) individuals
have common biological parents (ie are sisters or brother and sister).
Sibling DNA Testing does not identify a biological parent.
